Criminal conspiracy to commit furnishing prohibited articles by Johnny Schales is a class “d” felony and contributing to the delinquency of minor is a class “a’ misdemeanor. Johnny Schales was also charged as an habitual offender, an unclassified felony as the result being previously found guilty on pled guilty to four are more felonies in Craighead, Izard, Lawrence , and Sharp counties. He remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $20,000 bond and a hold by the Arkansas Department of Correction.An inmate in the Izard County Detention Facility awaiting prison bed space on the conviction of forgery is now facing additional felony charges. Johnny Schales, age 33 of Horseshoe Bend along with his sister, Codie Schales, age 23 of the same address have been charged regarding criminal conspiracy. The brother and sister are now charged with conspiring to have a female juvenile deliver tobacco and schedule four pills inside of a chess set to him in the jail. Sheriff Tate Lawrence remarked that Detention Officer Karen Lester’s attention to detail revealed that the bottoms of the chess set had been removed and then reattached.
Codie Schales was arrested November 1 and is facing the same conspiracy charge and the contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge. Codie Schales posted bond in the amount of $10,000 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
