According to Chief Deputy Charley Melton, on December18 at approximately 5:40 a.m. deputies were called to a residence on Barren Fork Road in Mount Pleasant for a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival Deputy D.J. Tiernan spoke to a female who stated that she and Justin Hale, age 21 of Mount Pleasant, had got into an altercation about a Christmas bonus. During this time Hale reportedly told the victim he would give the police a reason to send him to prison and then he grabbed the female by the throat, cutting off her air way. He then reportedly told the female that she would not be around much longer. Tiernan noted the female victim did have injuries to her person. As a result, Hale was charged with:

Aggravated assault, a class "d" felony

Domestic battery 3rd degree, a class "a" misdemeanor

Terroristic threatening, a class "a" misdemeanor

Criminal mischief, a class "b" misdemeanor

Hale's bond was set at $5,000 professional with a court date in the Izard County Circuit Court of December 23.

 

On December 15 Gary Sample, age 21 of Dolph, was arrested by Sgt. Mike Smith for careless driving, defective vehicle lights, and possession of a controlled substance. During the time of this arrest, there was an investigation into the reports of harassment and threats made by Sample to another person. As a result of the investigation Sample was also charged with terroristic threatening and harassment. He is scheduled to appear in the Izard County District Court on January 21, 2021.

On December 15 Heather Upton, age 44 of Guion, was arrested for contempt of court. Upton is scheduled to appear in the Izard County Circuit Court on December 23.

On December 17 Karmen Barner, age 47 of Melbourne, was arrested by Deputy Sean Tomlinson for shoplifting. Barner is scheduled to appear in the Izard County District Court on February 4, 2021.

On 12/19/2020 at approximately 8:55 PM, Deputy Sean Tomlinson arrived at Dollar General in Calico Rock in response to a report of shoplifting. The subject was identified as Amber Taylor, from Salem Ar. Ms. Taylor was charged with shoplifting and is scheduled to appear in Izard County District Court on Jan. 21.
